Alexei Navalny's Widow Claims Laboratory Tests Verify He Was Poisoned in Prison

Yulia Navalnaya has announced that a pair of foreign labs confirmed her deceased husband suffered poisoning, after examination of medical specimens covertly removed from Russia.

Navalny, 47, succumbed suddenly on the 16th of February, 2024 while held in a remote facility situated above the Arctic Circle, where he had been ordered to a lengthy term behind bars.

Navalny's allies have consistently accused the Moscow of being behind his death—claims that Moscow have rejected as baseless. Government representatives maintain that he died from natural causes.

Yulia Navalnaya, who lives outside Russia, shared a statement in which she stated that evidence from her husband was taken out of the country in 2024 and tested by independent laboratories.

She asserted, “Both facilities in separate nations came to the same verdict: Alexei was killed. More specifically, he was exposed to a toxin.”

She called on the laboratories to publicly release their results, emphasizing, “This information are of great significance and must be shared. Everyone have the right to know the reality.”

Navalnaya also noted that video evidence from her husband’s last day had gone missing, even though him being under continuous monitoring throughout his confinement.

Moreover, previously unseen pictures purportedly taken within Navalny’s cell after his death were made public. The photos depict a confined space with what appears to be vomit and bloodstains on the ground, alongside a book and a dictionary.

An associate of Navalny, Volkov, stated that the activist had been “murdered in an agonising way, with poison”.

He emphasized, “No matter how much they tried to erase evidence from documents or cover their tracks, we are aware all the details about his final day and the manner of his death.”

Initially, the jail administration stated that Navalny “was taken ill after a walk and almost immediately”.

The case resembles previous poisoning cases attributed to the Moscow, including the deadly poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko in London in 2006 and the chemical assault on former spy Sergei Skripal in 2018.

In addition, Navalny himself survived a attack in 2020, when he lost consciousness after confirmed exposure to novichok. He was later evacuated to Germany for recovery before going back to Russia, where he was immediately taken into custody and sentenced.
