The launch of the long-awaited James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, will now arrive later to 27 May 2026.

Initially scheduled for a 27 March release, the title will now debut approximately two months later its original date.

A Much-Needed Comeback for 007

This project represents the first video game to feature the iconic British spy since 2012's 007 Legends, ending a lengthy hiatus for the character in the gaming world.

"The game is completely traversable from start to finish," stated studio IO Interactive. "But, we are using this further window to add more refinement and make certain it satisfies the lofty standards of our players."

Development Particulars and Narrative Elements

The game is being developed in partnership with Delphi Interactive, a studio that is developing another upcoming title.

Patrick Gibson, known for Dexter: Original Sin, takes on the role of a young James Bond in what is promoted as a fresh take on the beginnings.

The narrative charts Bond as he gets enlisted into MI6 and is granted his legendary 00 status, delivering a self-contained tale unconnected to the films or books.

Notable Cast and Mechanics Glimpses

Enhancing the celebrity appeal, artist Lenny Kravitz will perform as the project's primary antagonist.

Released gameplay trailers have demonstrated shared mechanics with IO Interactive's popular Hitman franchise, while also featuring the signature gadgets and cinematic set pieces inherent to Bond.

However, comments from viewers on these trailers expressed issues regarding visual performance, noting frame rate drops and excessive motion blur.

An Ambitious Undertaking

IO Interactive has called 007 First Light its "largest-scale project to date."

"We're confident this prepares 007 First Light up for long-term success," the studio added. "Thank you for the understanding and ongoing enthusiasm we've received."
