Unveiling an Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have discovered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. But, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is literally a dung attempting to travel to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: you only need a single jump button. Across numerous challenges, battle tough enemies and unlock a market to buy customizations for your poop character.

Time your movements with caution, as a wrong move forces restarting the level. Leap using air pockets to propel your character to new heights, navigate disappearing platforms, and interact with buttons to unlock hidden paths. Gather currency for buying more difficult stages as the action intensifies.

Visually, the demo boasts vibrant stages and catchy music score. The simple graphics featuring moving geometric shapes evokes memories of fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though hard to think of other games where you control a piece of feces, gaming frequently incorporated scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from protagonist droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme appears heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, such as winning at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the complete version planned to debut on computers this November.
